Over 100 years ago, railroads found their way to Aberdeen causing the town to its first rapid expansion, but today it is seeing massive growth both commercially and residentially. Today, Aberdeen has a population of approximately 4,500 residents. This great town is rich with dining and the arts. The historic district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In this district the tree lined streets and antique shops melt together with the homes of yesterday, all telling stories of days passed and the history within this community.
The commercial district showcases the modern amenities and brands that customers trust while still not taking away from the charm, quaintness, and convenience of a small town. The spring 2008 opening of the Aberdeen Lake Park Recreation Station, puts an exclamation point on this fact. This facility was designed like a train depot, which historically was were Aberdeen saw its birth.
